Your pool should feel like the best part of your home, not a project you keep putting off. If your surface is rough or stained, your tile is dated, your equipment is inefficient, or your layout no longer fits the way you live, a remodel can completely change how your backyard looks and performs.
Wildwood Pools has been designing and building pools since 1972, and we bring that same craftsmanship and planning to modern pool renovations. From simple surface updates to full transformations with new finishes, water features, lighting, and automation, we help Santa Maria homeowners create a pool they’re excited to use again.
A successful remodel is equal parts design, construction expertise, and communication. The right partner will help you make smart upgrade choices, prevent surprises, and deliver a finished pool that looks great and operates reliably for years.
Wildwood Pools is known for thoughtful design, quality materials, and an organized process—from the first site visit through the final walkthrough. We remodel pools throughout Santa Maria and nearby communities, and we tailor recommendations to your existing pool, goals, and budget.
If you’re also considering broader backyard improvements, ask about coordinating a remodel with complementary upgrades so everything looks intentional and finished.
What Some of Our Clients Have to Say
The absolute best. I had 3 quotes and not only was Wildwood the lowest they were also the best quality. Not only with parts and equipment but with service as well. Stephen worked with us from the beginning and made this a very painless and easy process. I highly recommend Wildwood pools!

Wildwood Aquatech Pools absolutely exceeded our expectations! They designed and built a pool that we’re going to enjoy for many years to come. It all started with our sales representative, Stephen, who took all of our ideas and turned them into an amazing design. And a big shoutout to Sam, our project lead, who was hands‑on throughout the entire process—checking on progress, coordinating the team, and even jumping in to do some of the work himself. We couldn’t be happier with the result. Highly recommend Wildwood Aquatech Pools!

Wildwood did an amazing job installing our pool in 2013. We've really enjoyed it, and felt they were great at communicating and answering our questions. After nearly 6 years of use, a rust spot formed in the plaster and it turned out to be caused by some rebar under the plaster. Wildwood was amazing, and although the pool is out of warranty, they drained the pool and repaired the spot without charge. We're very happy with them, and highly recommend them to anyone.

We found Wildwood based on a recommendation. Stephen was instrumental in helping with the pool / yard design. He was engaging and a part of the construction process from start to finish. All of my questions were quickly answered as he was very responsive and easy to get a hold off. Patty at Wildwood was awesome at managing the project. If I had any concerns with the subs, she was quick to address them and make everything right. I enjoyed working with Wildwood so much that I retained their weekly pool cleaning service! I recommend this company to anyone I know that is wishing to build a pool!

Your remodel can be simple and cost-effective—or a full reimagining. Many homeowners choose a blend: resurface the interior, refresh the tile line, then add a few upgrades that modernize the experience.
Popular pool remodeling upgrades include:
Not sure what’s worth it? We’ll help you prioritize upgrades that improve daily use, reduce maintenance, and deliver the best visual impact for your budget.
Every pool remodel starts with what you already have: the shell, plumbing, decking, and equipment. From there, we help you select upgrades that improve appearance, comfort, safety, and efficiency. Below are some of the most common remodeling paths for Santa Maria-area pools.
A remodel is a chance to fix what doesn’t work and elevate the overall look. We help you plan finishes, color palettes, and feature placement so the final result feels cohesive with your home and landscape.
Design support may include:
Worn finishes can look dated and also feel uncomfortable underfoot. A new interior finish can dramatically improve the look of your water color and bring your pool back to a smooth, clean feel.
Common surface and tile updates include:
We’ll help you compare finish types and choose an option that fits your desired look, maintenance preferences, and how you use the pool.
Your deck is the largest visible surface in the backyard. Updating it can make the entire pool area feel newer, safer, and more enjoyable—especially in Santa Maria heat, where comfort and traction matter.
Deck and coping improvements may include:
If your backyard entertaining areas feel disconnected, we can also help you think through the flow and usability so the remodel supports how you host and relax.
Many pools lose performance over time due to aging pumps, filters, heaters, and plumbing components. Equipment upgrades can reduce energy use, improve water quality, and make day-to-day ownership easier.
Popular equipment upgrades include:
We’ll review your current setup and recommend upgrades based on performance goals—not generic upsells.
Modern lighting and automation make your pool easier to use and more enjoyable at night. With the right system, you can control schedules, lighting scenes, and equipment settings with far less effort.
Options can include:
If you’re looking for a “wow” factor without changing the entire pool, lighting is often one of the highest-impact upgrades.
A remodel is the ideal time to add features that increase comfort and turn your pool into a true destination.
Depending on your pool and goals, enhancements may include:
We’ll help you prioritize features that match how you actually use the space—family time, entertaining, exercise, or relaxation.
Pool remodeling is a construction project, but it shouldn’t feel chaotic. Our process is designed to keep you informed, minimize disruption, and deliver a finished pool that’s built to last.
Below is what you can generally expect when remodeling with Wildwood Pools in the Santa Maria area.
We’ll start with a walkthrough of your pool and backyard to understand what you’d like to improve and the condition of your current pool. This is where we identify constraints (access, elevation, drainage, equipment condition) and discuss design direction.
During this step, we typically cover:
Next, we refine the plan and help you choose materials and features that work together. This is where your remodel starts to look “real,” and where smart planning prevents mismatched finishes and avoidable change orders later.
You’ll get guidance on:
If permits or inspections are required for the scope of work, we’ll help navigate that process and plan the job sequence. We also confirm access, staging, and a construction schedule that respects your property.
Pre-construction planning includes:
The construction phase can include demolition, prep, finish installation, equipment upgrades, and feature work. We keep the project moving in organized steps so each trade can complete quality work without rushing or rework.
Common construction activities may include:
You can expect:
Costs vary based on the size of the pool and the scope—surface-only updates are typically less than full renovations that include tile, coping, decking, features, and equipment changes. After a site visit, we’ll provide a clear estimate based on your priorities and the condition of the existing pool.
Timelines depend on the work being performed and material availability. Many remodels take several weeks from start of construction to completion. During planning, we’ll walk you through the expected schedule and what can affect it (permitting, weather, and cure times for certain finishes).
Yes. Many homeowners begin with a targeted refresh—such as replastering and waterline tile—then add additional upgrades over time. We’ll help you choose an approach that makes sense visually and avoids creating conflicts with future updates.
Yes. We’ll guide you through finish, tile, coping, deck, and feature selections so the remodel looks cohesive. If you have inspiration photos, bring them—those help clarify your style quickly.
Common efficiency upgrades include variable-speed pumps, LED lighting, and optimized automation scheduling. We can review your current setup and recommend changes that make sense for your pool usage and goals.
Often, yes—depending on your pool structure and the remodel scope. A remodel is typically the best time to add features because access and construction sequencing can be more efficient.
Some finishes and upgrades require specific startup steps and curing periods. We’ll explain the startup process and when it’s appropriate to swim, based on the materials used and the final completion steps.
